Harry Potter Review

My daughter's never been into Harry Potter. But she said she wanted to go see this one. Hmmm. This is her face after I told her I'd take her (of note, she's already concerned that her hair was messy and she was wearing her specs- I had to beg her to stay as is):

I think it's because she's starting to notice boys but she denies this- there was one boy early this summer who brought her flowers and origami animals to camp. She hated this attention and her stories of avoidance had me laughing all afternoon. He is Chinese. She says he was way shorter than her (welcome to life as a tall person) and just didn't think he was cute- I thought he was adorable...and then I reminded her how much she loves Chicken Fried Rice and to get us an invite to his house and maybe we'd have a good meal on a weeknight (I'm sorry but this girl is going to have to marry a Chef, someone who likes to cook or a rich guy who will cook for her because all I'm teaching her is how to bake and clearly, she cannot live on flour alone). She didn't think that was funny- what? How many times have people come to my house and requested a Spanish meal? PLENTY I tell you.

So anyways, back to HP and his posse. First I would have to say Harry needs some triming on those brows- they bugged me through the whole movie- but J? She was totally digging the romances that were brewing. See?

No- HP is not into that guy just showing you the brows- Harry likes the redhead's sister, and the cute girl likes the redhead (I'm assuming I"m not giving anything away since it's part of the book). So J kept asking when they would go back to the romantic parts. Girl chases boy who doesn't notice her. Boy wants girl but invites someone else to the dance. Just what I want my girl to learn. When we left I told her to make sure she always goes for the nice guys; for the guys who bring her flowers, origami, etc. Not the ones that make you cry.

But anyways, overall, it was entertaining (and had some good lessons in there- such as if you find a spell book with all the answers, don't give it away and if something REALLY scary flies around your house, it's best to stay indoors unless of course they blow the house up). I've never read the books because well, they are not chick lit and wizards and magic wands are not really my thing. But it kept me interested- at first I had to IM my sister who is a total HP follower and ask who was who and once filled in, I was good to go.

Trying to figure out what to go see next...any ideas? I saw Bruno and just don't even waste your time.

And don't forget about the GIVEAWAY!!

Not an HP fan... wizards just arent my thing. Last two things I saw were The Hangover and The Proposal. The Hangover was so funny I thought I was going to pee my pants. I would pay full price and go see it again. It was that good. The Proposal was cute, Sandra Bullock doing what she does best. It was nice to see and older actress paired with a younger guy. Lots of good laughs... but I could have waited for the DVD for this one.

LOL!!! that you needed to IM your sister for some details. I had read that if you had not been following the series that the movie would be hard to follow. Do you want your $$ back?

My boys liked the movie. I thought it was just alright. It was kinda more of the same old same old to me. I am tired of watching the stupid quitache (I will not even google how to spell it!!!!) games. And the young love interests were just goofy and boring. OK - so maybe I didn't like the movie.

Both my boys could make your daughter some origami. They even race to see who can make an origami cube or swan the fastest. I was not kidding that we are a bunch of nerds.

I love Harry Potter and I can't wait to see the movie. Now if only I could carve out enough time.

There is hope for your daughter. I love to bake and I married a caterer who cooks most of the meals! He is a fantastic cook!

my kids watch it on dvd because they are too scared of HP. I've never been into it. As for the kid, dont let her marry a chef. I'll tell you why later. WASSUP? We are due for a phone chat, eh?

One of these days I'm going to read or at least listen to all the HP books and then watch all the movies. Maybe during hurricane season....oops. Did I say that out loud? *knocking wood*

You have one gorgeous daughter. She's going to have to learn how to live with unwanted attention as she's going to get WAY more than her share.

I rarely go to movies, (I always fall asleep), but we took the kids to see Up. One of my favorite movies now - not just for kids, I swear. Hula Boy and Lava Girl or whatever that shit was...that's a different story altogether!!

Ice Age 3 was a good movie; and safe for the kiddo to watch.

And eventually… I wanna see the new Johnny Depp movie…
